Byrd's eclectic professional experience allows her to create dynamic workshops for youth and adults.
Byrd received her Bachelors in Special Studies in Performance Art from Cornell College and received a Masters in Organizational Leadership from St. Ambrose University. While completing her masters, she developed her professional career in diversity and inclusion at her alma mater in the Office of Intercultural Life. Her eclectic professional experience allowed her to continue to facilitate workshops in spoken word. While working at Cornell College, Byrd also dedicated her time to coaching the college's poetry slam team that competed and placed in the college division of Louder Than A Bomb.
Byrd returned to Chicago in 2014 and completed her Spoken Word Pedagogy Certificate program at Concordia University in 2015. She is currently the Senior Education Programs Manager at Young Chicago Authors, Home of Louder Than A Bomb.
Examples of workshop topics include: Identity, exploration of the past, oppression, familial relationships, assimilation, journey of acceptance, the effects of being raised by a ghost, exploration of the past, odes, anaphoras, and more.
