Join me for another episode of Byrd Talk with one of my favorite humans in this universe and beyond, Mallory Raven-Ellen Backstrom - author, playwright, artist, and intuitive healer.
Mallory creates epic fairy tales for sun-kissed women. A mixed-media artist, writer, actor and entrepreneur. Mallory was a finalist for the 2019 National Playwrights Conference at The O’Neill and is the recipient of the Tutterow Fellowship at Chicago Dramatists - Center for New Play Development. She’s been invited into writer’s rooms at The New Colony Theatre, Victory Gardens, and Jackalope Theatre. Mallory’s passion for diverse representation, mindfulness, and mysticism resonates across the vast universe of color she leaves
on the page, the stage, and the canvas.
During our rapid flight section Mallory mentioned the 5 books she could not live without. Check them out below:
Wild Seed ~Octavia Butler
The People Could Fly ~Virginia Hamilton
The Women's Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets ~Barbara G. Walker
The Sun Sword ~Michelle West
The Harry Potter Series
Make sure you check out Mallory's books and stories through Fairy Tales For Sunkissed Women
